Finished my first Lomo article

I was asked to be a City Slicker writer for the online version of Lomography magazine. I am honored. It is a lot of work. I fret. I wonder if I chose the right photos? I wonder if my words will be good enough? In only 500 words or less how can I say what Portland is really like? In only a few photos how can I show what Portland is like when I have thousands of photos?

It was my first go at this. I am sure it will get easier as I do more. Each month I’ll get a new assignment to photograph and to write about. Am I back in school? Good thing I like writing and love taking photos. By the way, they all have to be taken with film.

Here’s a sampling of some of the photos I chose to depict Portland.

We can be a bit weird

We have fanatic soccer fans

we love our food

we love our coffee

we bike and we vote

we read

fashion doesn’t start here

we have the longest running market in the US

you can find almost anything

we’ll do almost anything for a tip

we love our bridges

if only I could add another 100 or so. I did submit 35 photos to my Lomography article. I hope they use them all.
