Another 10 mile walk and another jewel

Walked to Beckenham High Street again and noticed the sign for Kelsey Park and thought I’d go for a stroll. It was a gorgeous sunny day and some of the trees were changing color so I thought I’d have a look.

First came across these park employees on their tea break. Same the world over, isn’t it?

they said their back sides were the best view

Next, I came across this elderly gentleman in a wheel chair. Now whenever I see a British man who I think is 90+ in years, I assume he was in WWII. So far I have never been proven wrong. So I approached him, we began to talk and sure enough, he was an RAF pilot. He flew the Landcaster bomber and received many medals including the distinguished flying cross. We talked for almost an hour and I enjoyed every minute of it. I think he did too. When I travel alone these are the kind of moments that would probably not occur if I was walking with a companion.

Mr. Jack Russell, his real name

I continued further into the park enjoying the water, the birds and the people.

There is more to London than the West End. Just put on your walking shoes and explore.
