Sunrise over Mt Hood

It wasn’t the most colorful sky this morning but still a nice view from Baker Rd which sits above my house. But it’s how I prepared for this that is the story. The previous 3 days I was greeted with gorgeous red and orange skies as I was on my drive to work and wasn’t able to really take advantage of them. So the night before this shot I decided I’d get up before the first showing of light, grab my camera and head to this location not far from my house. I laid in bed for awhile because I could tell the sky was going to be another one of those gray ones greeting me on my day off. But then I thought I should go anyway…just in case. So I went out the door in my Scooby Doo pj’s. I thought it doesn’t matter because no one would be out at this time. I get out the tripod and am standing in someone’s drive way waiting for an epic sunrise, which as you can see, never really showed. But I realize that I have a friend, male, who uses this same road to go to work and that he goes to work early and I might be seen up here in the dark in my jammies. Several cars came by, but no horn hooting so I thought I am safe. Whew.
Later this morning I am walking by his place of business and I stop to say ‘hello’. I told him my story. He had gone by just as I thought, but luckily he never saw me. Which leads me to think he was asleep at the wheel because you couldn’t miss my car at the summit of the hill. Luckily I was pulled off the road or I may have received more than this sunrise.

Happy weekend everyone.
